MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

               MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

My mind Is an Island, many places to roam,

Different things' that I see when I'm on my
 Own.

If wander I do, to far away,

Lost might I be In this land made for me.

See as I do and think as I may,

There are beautiful things' In my thoughts'
 Every day.

I can find my way back to where It Is I
 should be,

If I'm looking the right way or a trail I
 Might leave.

My Island can be peaceful and sunny or stormy
 And dark,

I'd rather be happy and have my Island be a
 Walk in the park.

HILLS OF DARKNESS

              HILLS' OF DARKNESS

Through the hills' I walk to find a place,

Of peace and happiness for a home I'll make.

Escape I will from times of darkness,

Into the light of day where I want to be.

Leave behind things' of the past,

Onward I walk till I find my path.

As my travels' through the hills' continue,

See do I clearer from my eyes.

These hills' of darkness I leave behind,

Out In the open, of better things' I'll find.

A MOMENT IN TIME

                "A MOMENT IN TIME"

A speck of dust, a trickle of water,

Soon would blow with the wind and dry
 Into nothing.

Our time s now fore we are a whisper wanting
 To be heard,

A short period for laughter, remembered for
 What we leave.

For so long has time existed, the world, the
 Universe so large,

We are but a fragment, a particle of all that
 Was created.

A moment In time was this gift we were given
 From God above,

A moment to see and love all there Is to
 Understand from this.

Where we go from here we shall not know, but
 Hold no fear,

Like many fallen leaves from a tree we are one,
 We disappear.

               Keith Garrett

FLIGHT

                 FLIGHT

There up high I stare to the wide open sky,

Watch as I do you circle round, and round.

Free to fly, soar with the wind, I see you fly,

What is it that you see as you drift through
 The air?

Spread those wings and sail, sail to anywhere,

Beneath the stars, under heaven above, fly.

What the lord has given to you is the gift of
 Flight,

Fly away, fly away, get lost into the night.

Created were you by he without a face,

Spirit in the sky will take you on a special
 Flight.

Make your journey through the clouds moving by,

into the sun that shines from so far away.

Finish your flight, goodbye, I say farewell,

 Fly, fly far away.

7 MINUTES

                  7 MINUTES

We all have 7 minutes before something
 We must do,

The same time before work is done and time
 To go home.

7 minutes waiting or 7 minutes up, what be
 The Circumstance,

7 minutes in the shower, 7 minutes on the
 Phone,

7 minutes before dinner, another 7 minutes
 All alone.

Time is of the essence, time never stands
 Very still,

7 minutes late just may save your life, right
 On time, goodbye.

In only 7 minutes, from good to bad, your world
 Has changed,

Snooze for an extra 7 minutes, it may do you a
 World of good.

7 minutes a long time to suffer, 7 minutes to
 Love and dream.

DREAMS

                  DREAMS'

Dreams,' like the hopes and wishes that
 Rest in our hearts,

Some come true, If for us only a shattered few,
 Like you.

Dreams' are a look Into the future of our
 Wanting thoughts,

Reasons' and seasons' for them to be or be not.

Dreams' may bring love to a heart so lonely
 And of care,

What Is a dream If never with another shared.

I dream of one day when a dreamers' heart
 Finds mine,

We'll walk as one but two different lives.

SOMETIMES

                  "SOMETIMES"

Sometimes I wait for the telephone to ring,

A wanting for a voice that does not sing.

Sometimes I dream about and sometimes I cry,

Love and peace are held deep Inside, understand.

Sometimes I feel that I have to go away, I stay,

So many things to do as I work and play, listen.

Sometimes I'm a very tired and complicated soul,

I'll keep on pushing till the day grows old.

Sometimes I battle the Invisible fight, my
 Fight,

Something to prove as my time gets closer to
 The light.

Sometimes I search for an Imagined hope of love,

Can not find that which does not wish to be found.

Sometimes I think that I am not seen by many eyes,

Perhaps at times my mind Is closed and It Is I who
 Is blind.

Sometimes I wonder If the world does not need me,

As I discover a wanting for more that It holds.

SOUNDS IN THE WIND

              SOUNDS' IN THE WIND

The wind has no sound unless obstacles to
 Blow around or between,

Through nothing can It pass, an opening
 Must make way for it.

Travels' and swirls' across the sky with
 Force and power,

Since the existence of time It remains'
 Alive but unseen.

The crackling of branches and twigs from
 The trees,

Rustling of the leaves moving through the
 Shrubs, wind has sound.

Through chimneys' you can hear the wind
 Whistle,

Fences creek, chimes let you know the wind
 Is here.

Windows' vibrate and trashcans' hit the ground
 Like drumbeats,

From our ears we hear sounds' In the wind.

A CLEAR, SPRING NIGHT

             A CLEAR SPRING NIGHT

I await you as the sun goes down, a breeze
 Blowing cool,

There will be a full moon rising In the sky
 Tonight.

Jasmine Is a fragrance noticed In the nights'
 Of Spring,

Sweet Is Its' smell as darkness awakes and the
 Daylight sleeps.

The cold bite of Winter becomes a memory
 For now,

Summers' heat has not yet been born, this
 Feeling of Spring.

Walk with me hand In hand, under a full moon
 So bright,

A clear Spring night Is alright, with a woman
 Of beauty I walk.

A dreaming man tells a story of a walk with a
 Beautiful woman,

Under a full moon on a clear Spring night, he
 Waits.

                Keith Garrett

MANY FEELINGS OF SPRING

            MANY FEELINGS' OF SPRING

As slowly the days' get longer and the cold
 Travels away,

A change of seasons' comes Into our day.

Out comes the sun as earlier It shines,

The blooming of flowers enters our minds.

No more frost or the freezing of night,

The song of the birds, a tune that Is nice.

The shadows appear but much later In the day,

Darkness does not visit, away longer It stays.

On the trees and shrubs new growth will appear,

It's time to awake fore Springtime Is here.

On the mountains the snow melts Into water
 Running down,

Wild life returns, we hear many a sound.

Look around to what this time brings,

The things that we see tell us this Is Spring.

                                                                                    Keith Garrett
