MAN ON A CORNER

                   MAN ON A CORNER

Watching the sun go down, his stare seemed
 Beyond the sky,

A child so young, from this corner he saw them
 Light up the night.

Run with your friends as the sun rises in the
 Early morning light,

I have seen a man on a corner since my days of
 Chasing butterflies.

Where is it that he goes, what thoughts clutter
 His mind on many days?

He begins back in time when he too watched a man
 On a corner.

Playing many childish games, we ran until the sun
 Set in the sky,

Today as the children play, it is I who becomes a
 Man on a corner.

HE TOLD ME OF HIS LIFE

HE TOLD ME OF HIS LIFE

As he sat down in his rocking chair he began
 To speak,

With a smile, he invited me to sit and went about
 His story.

His life as a child, at the beginning of a war for
 Independence,

On a farm in South Carolina, he lived with a father,
 Brothers, sisters.

He went on to tell of adventures in the Summer just
 Before it happened,

A big house, great times with family, working the farm
 Each day was tiring.

He must have been about ninety years old now, the war
 And those days long gone,

A childhood recalled, swimming in the pond with a friend
 Or two, the night's moon.

He told me of this war being all around them, nothing
Would Be the same, much change,

Tears in his eyes as he described that time and place
 Where brothers and family died.

He sits in his chair today, many years away from there,
He lives in that house today,

He sits in his chair on that porch where as a child he
Played, He told me of his life.

FAVORS IN THREES

               FAVORS IN THREES

How is it possible to change the world,

Can one man get it started, where to begin.

Do a favor of unselfishness and ask that in return

 This person do three favors,

Two more favors of you must be accomplished to start.

It is that someone first did a kindness for you,

They then asked of you to do these three things.

Favors of three may be quite a sacrifice indeed,

A price this may be that you pay in many a way.

A person, just one to take a chance is possible,

If each that have been given this gift does in return

Pass it on then it will never stop.

The world would be as one family, In other words,

 A PERFECT WORLD.

TOMBSTONE

                 TOMBSTONE

                 O.K CORRAL

More than one hundred years ago In a town
Of the west,

Cochise County Arizona, Tombstone was the place.

There took place a gunfight at the legendary O.K.
corral,

Considered the most famous gunfight in the history
Of the old west.

In the street, possibly a cool, breezy, fall day,
Three P.M., An end,

Took place did it in a narrow lot six doors west of rear
Entrance to O. K. Corral.

A thirty second gunfight would be most tragic, a
Famous story,

Fremont street, the O.K. Corral, Wyatt Earp, Doc
Holliday, Virgil, and Morgan Earp.

A fight with the Clanton's and Mclaury's on October
Twenty sixth, Wednesday,

Men died, Billy Clanton, Tom Mclaury, and brother frank
Lost their lives.

Morgan and Virgil Earp along with Doc Holliday were
Lucky to be only wounded,

Thirty shots fired, they were about six feet apart,
Men did die,

Wyatt Earp was the only one to escape unhurt, a long time
Ago in the old west.

SOMETHING SO STRONG

             SOMETHING SO STRONG

For so long now a crushing pain, out of darkness
I find my way,

The sky I see above rests over the mountain I
Must climb.

A glow of light finds me as I make my way up
The endless giant,

There's a faith that guides, I am not afraid for
Many will stand with me.

Inside this body lives a spirit of neve rending fight
For survival,

Something so strong, It conquers the force of doubt
In another man.
I may not reach the top but i will try, I will get there,
I'll touch the sky,

Lost was I, this man of many sorrows, a change in myself
Is discovered.

Such a long road on my own to follow, travel it with me
Now and forever,

I've seen the mountain, I've climbed high with blood
 And pain, To the top.

Many have come to watch my flight from the morning's
 Light into the dark,

With me they stood strong, they helped me climb when
 I weakened.

Something so strong as I would not fall, their strength
 Gave me courage,

The mountain still stands, again I will climb
 Stronger each time.

NOTHING

                   NOTHING

At one time or another everything was nothing,

One day in time nothing would and will turn to
 Everything.

Nothing is a word used in many ways, decay into
 Nothing,

" You are nothing" can be a lifetime emotional scar
 That haunts.

What are you doing? a friend or child may respond
 With nothing!

I did nothing today, you must have done something,
 Nothing can not be done.

Nothing can be so lonely, as it can not be seen, it
 Does not have any dreams,

" I have nothing to live for" listen close, as we all
Have the greatest things to live for.

I was nothing until I met you, I was more than I thought
Before it was me and you,

Nothing is only a word, it is a sound that many a soul
 Have heard with a word.

LOST IN THE WILD

                    LOST IN THE WILD

To step outside the world I've known,
Leave It all behind and those who know me.

Off on a great journey to see It all,
Into the wilderness as If nothing else matters'
 Anymore.

To try things never tried before,
Experience life through a new open door.

Perhaps a fear of what lies ahead,
I trek across the land, survive If I can.

See many new things from my eyes,
Into the night I hear nature cry.

Not expecting never to go home again,
Lost In the wild Is where my life ends.

VOICES

                   VOICES

Around us, we hear those who speak,
Words and phrases to others' who will hear.

So many different tones from mouths each day,
Softly spoken or In a deep mean way.

Talking a lot Is a way for some,
Fast and unclear Is another way too.

We hear many voices as we spend our day,
Talking about their lives and crying about their pain.

 Voices are heard singing songs,
Which makes us happy and brings our emotions outside.

On the phone, there are voices, to us spoken words,
We can't even see them but still they are heard.

Without voices, we will not be heard,
If we are not heard, then there Is silence.

UNSEEN

                     UNSEEN

I'm all around, sometimes I'll go away,

In the morning a visit, maybe at the end of your day.

I've been known to whisper or at times a scream,

I push through the trees, perhaps awake you from
 A dream.

I may go very fast or swirl around,

Everywhere Is where I am bound.

Since the beginning of time, from then I was born,

Always will I be here with an unseen form.

THEY ONLY KNOW MY NAME

                THEY ONLY KNOW MY NAME

My face is seen through eyes that do not see,

Opinions or judgment, anger or jealousy.

They form their own truth, they make themselves
 Believe,

That I am something less than what I know to be.

A first impression, a bad impression,

Who are they who think they sit on a throne.

If they look to the mirror, no perfection to see,

They only know my name, they do not know of me.

A story they tell amongst themselves,

They do not stand and face me.

It is only heard by my ear from breath to breath,

They only know my name, they are known to me.
