LET’S NOT DESTROY ONE ANOTHER

LET’S NOT DESTROY ONE ANOTHER

Worry do we about the enemy from far away lands,

More of a chance to be invaded by an enemy within.

From protests of angry citizens, violence occurs,

Nothing will ever get better in the way they try to be heard.

Rioting in the streets, destroying ones own neighborhood,

How to accomplish anything when nothing you do is of good.

Shootings, fires, and bombs across a nation said to be great,

We show the world ignorance, our children are taught terrible things.

Let’s not destroy one another as we are doing just fine so far,

Wake up America, what will all this destruction do for you?

LAST NIGHT I DREAMED

LAST NIGHT I DREAMED

Last night I dreamed I lost a child,

The horror, sadness, all emotions seemed so real.

As if someone had taken him away,

Searched did I everywhere, oh the pain.

In my dream another gone, one disappearing,

This was not real as I was dreaming.

In my dream, I saw paper napkins floating downstream,

Representing the loss, them going away.

In my dream I awoke, a dream within a dream,

As if I now understood the full meaning.

When I did awaken I felt relief,

They did not die, they were not taken.

It was truly understood, my children were now gone,

There was some loss as they would not return.

My children of whom I loved so much were reborn

Into the adult world,

I’ll forever miss the laughter and play of the young innocent ones.

HERE IS MY HOUSE

HERE IS MY HOUSE

Here is my house built for this world today,

There is a gate so that you can’t get through,

If not invited there will be guns waiting for you.

Two dogs growling, mean as could ever be,

An alarm system that calls on those who will hurt you indeed.

Doors of steel that should let not a criminal soul get in,

Supplies for survival if this land must come to this.

Here is my house, not one of dreams but of safety,

Not the way our country should be, here is my house the way I see.

BLUE JEANS

BLUE JEANS

Antique in time, from the seventies, a pair so fine,

I remember I put them away, blue Jeans for another day.

A touch faded were they, comfortable in a certain way,

Worn were they to a party, perhaps a barbecue or two,

A Saturday night drive-in, what jeans were worn by you?

Blue jeans I took from a shelf, dusty, aged from time,

They fit me once before, now I can wear them in my mind.

A MOMENT IN TIME

A MOMENT IN TIME

A speck of dust, just a trickle of water,

Soon would blow with the wind and dry into nothing.

Our time is now for we are a whisper wanting to be heard,

A short period for laughter, remembered for what we leave.

For so long has time existed, the world, the universe so large,

We are but a fragment, a particle of all that was created.

A moment in time was this gift we were given from God above,

A moment to see and love all there is to understand from this.

Where we go from here we shall not know, but hold no fear,

Like many fallen leaves from a tree, we are one, we disappear.

A CLEAR, SPRING NIGHT

A CLEAR SPRING NIGHT

I await you as the sun goes down, a breeze blowing cool,

There will be a full moon rising in the sky tonight.

Jasmine is a fragrance noticed in the nights of spring,

Sweet is its smell as darkness awakes and the daylight sleeps.

The cold bite of Winter becomes a memory for now,

Summers heat has not yet been born, this feeling of spring.

Walk with me hand, in hand under a full moon so bright,

A clear, Spring night is alright, with a woman of beauty I walk.

A dreaming man tells a story of a walk with a beautiful woman,

Under a full moon on a clear, Spring night, he waits.

SPRING WITHOUT YOU

SPRING WITHOUT YOU

A fragrance is in the air, everything is alive, colorful blooms,

Wind blowing through trees which sway and dance together,

A mixture of clouds and sun drift slowly across a wide open sky.

Nights are of a cool feel to them, days are getting longer, I miss you,

Spring is here, I wish you could see it, the birds everywhere, you are too.

Imagine do I you drifting by as a cloud, fading into forever,

A breeze visits here on this day, with the wind your voice may echo.

Spring without you is a first in my life, the weather becomes warm,

Your smile and laughter have faded, Mom, it is that you are gone.

A better place in which no human being has yet seen, like a dream,

Hear you when I listen, see you in my thoughts, you were Mom,

Spring without you will turn to all seasons, thinking of you.

IN THE COURSE OF A LIFETIME

IN THE COURSE OF A LIFETIME

Born we are, each of us with a purpose unless altered,

Nothing stops what we do depending on anything in our way.

We see so much with these eyes of mystery given from the master,

What about those without sight, is there a gift that comes from here,

Nothing taken for granted when you never saw what you are missing,

You now see with your heart and mind, this is what challenges your time,

We travel a thousand roads trying to choose the best way to go, we don’t know.

Decisions of intelligence, luck along the way, a prayer of hope and we may be okay,

In the course of a lifetime, we pass each other by, shake hands, laugh, and say goodbye.

BEYOND THE SKY

“BEYOND THE SKY”

From my beginning, I’ve sat and watched you,

Up so high, beyond what Is blue.

I’m always here but you can’t always see,

Perhaps clouds’ cover your view of beautiful me.

If my lights’ are turned on you might see my smile,

On a dark clear night, I’ll be up for a while.

As you awake In the morning I’ll be asleep,

Another time Is when we’ll meet.

AT THE TOP OF THE LADDER

AT THE TOP OF THE LADDER

They think they’re almighty, the top is not kind,

A chain of command they preach, it is a fool who is blind.

They do not listen but they hear what you say,

See only what they want, negative all the way.

Ask for a raise, they’ll see what they can do,

Sorry not right now, you’re the first on the list.

Numbers and robots, w-2 with a name,

If for any reason you don’t like it then please go away.

There’s much for you to do, it’s your job anyway,

We did not invite you here, sorry you don’t like the pay.

More responsibility, just do what we say,

A dime a dozen, you’re replaceable anyway.
