DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN

DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN

Fact or fantasy, like the wishing, neverending thought that we can

Climb up and follow that mysterious rainbow to a magical land.

A four leaf clover, that search for the little green grass of hope,

Wish upon a star, will It get you far, blow out the candles,

Did you get that which you closed your eyes for,

Drink from the fountain first, you must search the world,

Reality or a myth, could this be true, did god place upon this earth

The fountain of life, Is It possible somewhere hidden contains a fountain so true.

How can this be a possibility fore It Is said that all will someday die,

If so true then god put It In a place where no man would ever venture to.

DEAD MINDS

DEAD MINDS

They go nowhere as their days are wasted,

From dawn until dusk they are in a bad way.

With all of their waking hour’s thoughts are formed,

Survival is a tiring adventure for those with dead minds.

They are going nowhere as they hope for only somewhere,

They move from here to there but accomplish little in despair.

There are dead minds of many a kind, wasting time,

The sun goes up and the sun moves around before it goes down,

They get lost with time, dead minds pass us by, all around.

DREAM WORLD

DREAM WORLD

In the light, I saw them, a sky of Orange floating,

An army of apemen dressed in full armor above,

On a hill, they stood, spread out far and wide.

Suddenly, music echoed from the sky, an Eerie sound,

I recognized the tune from an English band listened too.

My sleeping eyes saw them with many faces of fear,

Guns in hand turned before these eyes into electric guitars,

Watching Apelike men come together as a band in a dream world land.

DON’T TELL ME YOU’RE SORRY

DON’T TELL ME YOU’RE SORRY

You do it again and again, how can you be a friend?

You have done these things before, over and over I see.

You stole my money and said you do not know why,

The wounds heal after time goes by but again it happens, tell me why.

Don’t tell me you’re sorry family or friend, I have heard that tune before,

What’s worse than that I’ll tell you now, is when it’s never said at all.

From many mouths, from place to place and town to town, words come out,

Things are done and things are said, again and again to no end,

Don’t tell me you’re sorry, I have heard it all before, don’t bother me anymore.

DON’T CRY FOR YESTERDAY

DON’T CRY FOR YESTERDAY

We have our yesterday, a life growing up,

As a child, life can be the hardest lesson.

Painful memories, scars that carry into our tomorrow,

The good times with family, brothers and sisters we know.

In our past, our close by yesterday as adults,

We have grown and changed, hopefully for the good.

So as children or adults, as long as we are alive,

There will be a today, a yesterday, and a tomorrow.

We dream of the future, these thoughts we have today,

Don’t cry for yesterday, remember it, cherish that part of your life

You made through good times or bad,

Lessons that taught us, let us not today forget that which we’ve learned.

We are born, we have life, and ultimately we die,

In between are given the experience to see this world

That we truly don’t understand.

So, don’t cry for yesterday.

DOES THE SKY DREAM?

DOES THE SKY DREAM?

The sky is always night somewhere in our world,

Does it dream as it sleeps there where it rests.?

Awake as it does to the morning sunlight,

In another place, it goes to bed again for the night.

There are friends all around this wide open space

That watch over each other in its universe.

Does the sky dream,? always as it exists,

What would it say if to us it spoke.?

DOES IT REALLY HAPPEN?

DOES IT REALLY HAPPEN?

Are they out there somewhere beyond the earth,

Do they study us as we sleep, what do you think?

What happens behind closed doors, we have an idea,

But what closed doors are worse than another?

Does it really happen? yes it does, they spy from within,

The dollar exchanges hands in every land, good and bad.

They’re taken and sold, disappear without a trace,

Money to be gained in any type of place.

Does it really happen? don’t close your eyes to the day,

I’m not trying to be of a cynical mind but something is coming our way.

DOES A NEW YEAR BEGIN OR DOES LIFE SIMPLY CONTINUE?

DOES A NEW YEAR BEGIN

OR DOES LIFE SIMPLY CONTINUE

Sunrise, the beginning of a new day, sunset, a pause not an ending,

Life goes on, moves ahead until we reach a certain ending, not the end.

We keep track of our existence with a calendar, twelve months named,

Days of a word we call a week, seven with names that sound so strange.

There is an hourglass created to show that our time is running out,

Is it half empty or as they say with a positive note maybe half full.

Truth be told and this be fact that the glass runs down to half empty,

Time does march on moving forward, time is seen by the ageing changes.

I’m not shocked when I’m told that a fellow human being is dying,

Fore it is that we were all born holding onto our own gift of an hour glass.

We live to experience this roller coaster of a ride called life, see and dream,

Death is a mystery, why must we suffer as we grow older, at times with sickness.

Before we can see heaven it is that we must see all things good and bad,

Emotions of those created by god we must know all before he calls.

Some of us go fast, young, slow with pain, is there a best way,

Does a new year begin or does life simply continue until a new road is given.

DO YOU REMEMBER A PLACE?

DO YOU REMEMBER A PLACE

We had to say goodbye, leave it behind, in time so far away,

It still stands not only where we left it but always in our minds.

Do you remember a place where friends were together,

A place where we all grew up just a little.

It seemed like we were somewhat older than,

No! we were not, only teenage kids.

We gossiped and fought over silly things,

Our own groups of whom we would let in.

Do you remember a field, a hangout back then,

A parking lot of dirt, later cement.

A quad only for seniors, now funny it seems,

A football team of boys, champions in the end.

Teachers, some we would never forget,

Friends once lost, now friends again.

Vending machines, and lockers, classes to learn in,

Taken a little for granted so many sunrises ago.

Here’s to Esperanza high school, I’m glad it was back then,

Never a group of students and friends like you,

Do you remember a place with such friends.?

Keith Garrett

DO YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE?

DO YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE

They are shadows of friends long since gone,

They are men and women, friendly or not, they are.

They stand there, co- workers, strangers not yet known,

Husband, wives, boyfriends or girlfriends, past and present.

A chance their’s a brother, sister missed for some time,

Ghosts from memories of a long time ago, friend or foe.

A mother or father, one for awhile missed, the other forever,

Once stood where you could see, now shadows In eternity.

Do you know these people, can you recognize their faces,

From different times and different places.
