JUST A LONELY, OLD MAN

Maniac, crazy is the name given too him by a town,

This man with a long beard of gray, coat, and cane.

His house is said to be haunted, dark all around,

Weathered with cobwebs, many creeks, the only sound.

Just a lonely, old man whom at times may cry in the night,

Bitter from a loss, on his own hiding in his home.

Misunderstood, judged as he looks, his own heart and fears,

Just a lonely, old man with a lifetime within himself.

LISTEN TO THE WIND

The wind has millions of years of echoing sounds,

An invisible entity that’s been always spinning around.

What it knows, that which it’s seen is unbelievable,

Touched has it all creations of the world.

The wind has whistled through many a war,

It has touched the falling rain in all places.

The wind has given power and force to the sea,

It will be here when we drift off in heaven to be.

Listen to the wind as it speaks from the beginning of time,

It knows where it’s been and it will travel into eternity.

LISTEN TO THE DRUM BEAT

LISTEN TO THE DRUM BEAT

Thump, thump, hear the sound that makes the world go around,

Feel the pounding of its rhythm, the drum beats hard, the heart beats fast.

Listen to the drum beat that lives inside, listen to music, the drum beat cries,

Boom, boom, echoes through the sky, thunder is the drum, it beats out loud.

Wait for the rumbling as the shaking earth trembles with an awesome fear,

Bang, bang, listen as the sleeping childs heart comes to life in the dark night.

Bombs and gunfire sing through the war beaten land, thump, thump,

The drum beats slow, the drum beats fast, a mothers terror as her son dies.

The dancing boxer, hard hit as he is dropped to the floor, beat of his heart,

Thump, thump, boom, boom, goes his heart like the drum beat so slow.

Listen to the drum beat, to the sound of wandering feet, like a drum,

A first breath of life, a slower and slower beat of the fading, going away.

TAKE HOLD OF THE NIGHT

Sun going down on another day, the breath of life lives,

The light in the sky survives just a little while longer.

Days are becoming shorter as they remain with hours of the same,

As the air grows colder then wood is gathered for that great fire.

Getting early evening things done before the setting of the sun,

A shower then dinner in the dark, some candles lit within the home.

Two whom can share all the beauty of a most precious given time,

Take hold of the night, may it last longer than what seems only a moment.

We have no idea that which is in store for us in the morning light,

Peaceful is the night, time for rest, take hold of the night, a piece of life.

POETRY IN MOTION

Always walking, consistently moving along or active,

Constantly thinking, analyzing things and people around.

It’s motion that keeps my body and mind alive and running,

It can only stop if i stop, i’m a man in motion.

Writing about the world and those in my mind, my wondering mind,

Has given me sight, the ability to visualize and better understand.

Words have no meaning without the mind to interpret definition,

Poetry is song and emotion without instrumental sound.

A combination of these now lives in me, words i write,

Motion i have, i am poetry in motion.

HELLO DAD!

HELLO DAD!

It has been quite awhile since last I saw your smile,

I remember you back there on a cool, Fall day, you could not stay.

Seven years old this boy, a dad not so old, you should have stayed home,

I say hello in a most different way, not the way it was when I sat on your lap,

Not the same as when we went to the park, watched television before bed.

My thoughts are of a yesterday before you could no longer say hello,

A vegetable garden recalled, model airplanes together, medals I held.

A flag that has disappeared, material belongings lost with the years,

What I have left are some pictures, your words written, and memories,

So, I thought I would take a moment to say hello! dad, you are not forgotten.

THE STARS ARE FADED

Do you remember what you said, one evening long ago,

When stars were in the sky and when we sauntered in the snow.?

Do you remember, darling, that you gave your love to me,

And that you told me it would last for all eternity.?

You said it would not matter if the world should disappear,

Your heart would still be faithful and your love would be sincere.

But now the stars are faded and the snow is not the same,

And empty is the echo when i call your gentle name.

The shadows lengthen in the night, the dawn is cold and gray,

And i must wonder to myself, why did you go away.?

THROUGH THE CLOUDS, I’VE SEEN LOVE SHINE

As i was walking, dark clouds with storm written in the sky lingered,

As i stared and wondered what it would be like to float in them.

I could almost see the wind blowing them across the world,

Pushing and shoving each one as their shapes changed with every second.

High above the earth where it is free, clouds of white, clouds of black,

Are a miracle of a thing together with all things for us to be.

When all seems hopeless and lost, when darkness appears forever to be,

Dreaming as i gaze to heaven, high above an opening does break through,

There’s a feeling, looking with my heart, through the clouds, I’ve seen love shine.

A VIEW WORTH SEEING

A VIEW WORTH SEEING

Fortunate if you are to see throught the darkness,

For granted do not take the gift of light, always night.

Scenes and visions from the mind are wonderful at times,

To open your eyes and nothing rests in your sight a fright.

A view worth seeing comes to the grateful eyes day or night,

The morning light with the birds beautiful in your sight.

Wherever you go a picture of color awaits, always changing,

Each day a different view, open your eyes to a view worth seeing.

WHEN LIFE IS NOTHING

When one takes life then then they take from God,

Steal a precious gift that only comes from the Lord.

Why does a human being kill, murder in their heart,

Disregard a life and throw them away as trash.

Monsters without a conscience, not a heart or soul,

If you can kill without thought, no remorse to be found,

When life is nothing then nothing you are.

We are not the judges of death, not ours to decide,

They wander around with reasons to kill, the heartless ones.
