WHEN EARTH IS HEAVEN

Will it be this place or is there possibly a perfect other?

Heaven is an invisible, wonderful world somewhere within.

Can it be that one day we will all inhabit a kingdom such as this?

Might it be that this Earth that we wander today may be reborn?

When the Earth is heaven, a beautiful land without pain and suffering,

Corruption and greed will be no more, a time to enjoy and see what we missed.

Pollution and all dirty things will not ever be again as we sit by cool waters,

Walking hand in hand without hate and anger in this new land of eternity,

When Earth is heaven we will be free of all bad things that man has created here.

WHY DWELL ON THE PAST

It’s not coming back, only in your thoughts can it live,

To a place we can always journey, stand where we were.

Why dwell on the past? it has wandered into the future,

Why dwell on the past? it is here we all started, where we were.

Our place of memories, for most the great times growing up,

Special friends we all took for granted, we just didn’t know it then.

It seems like just moments ago we were walking to school, laughing,

Our troubles were few, the ones we had appeared so huge,

The past, if we could only for a magical moment take a walk back.

THE MORE WE TOUCH

THE MORE WE TOUCH

We explore the seven seas, mine for gold, silver, and coal,

All the digging we can do, deeper in the Earth for oil we go.

To the moon we have traveled, in space a traffic jam will be,

Chip away at all we can touch, we take and take too much.

Destroy life so that we may discover and learn, stop while we can,

The more we touch then more is a mess we make of what we have left.

We use this world as a study tool, tear it apart until there is nothing to use,

The more we touch, one day maybe no other place to go.

GOD IS IN THE RAIN

Clouds form, they turn dark with storm,

Drops fall from the sky, cold and warm,

More and more as they touch treetops.

Drip by drip they trickle down to the ground,

Into the rivers, flowing into the oceans as one.

Drops of rain cover lakes, slowly filling with time,

From the mountains the water makes its way down,

Soaking the hills to create life, within the flowers and grass.

Let the rain fall, God is in in the rain, in the drops that are upon you,

God is in the rain as it comes down, God soaks this world with life.

WHEN THE SUN SEES THE EARTH

Created within the universe are these two,

We need it more than it needs us, the sun.

Lifeless, a hot ball of fiery matter far away,

In our lives, we need it everyday to survive.

The Earth, this is where we have been forever,

Our home, at the mercy of all around us.

When the sun sees the Earth, something happens,

Warmth visits when the cold night is through,

At times too hot, this the sun will do.

Its rays from so far away touch the beauty that grows,

Brings life to all living things, the Earth that we know.

HE DOES MATTER

Lord, he’s fighting a battle, you see as this happens,

I won’t ask why as sickness is everyday in this world.

He is scared and not feeling so well as you now know,

He will leave behind a family as I have just been told.

Ease his pain and fear as he waits for an angel to guide him,

This man is but one soul in a land of so many, he has a name.

His life needs to matter has been said, he does matter I will say!

He does matter to all whom do love him each and everyday.

He matters to you, his life has had meaning in all that he has done,

Help a brother who does carry this with him, a pain in his heart,

Be with a family at this most difficult time, once more I will say,

He does matter as his time slips away, take him with you, make him okay.

HELLO! DAD

It has been quite awhile since last I saw your smile,

I remember you back there on a cool, Fall day, you could not stay.

Seven years old this boy, a dad not so old, you should have stayed home,

I say hello in a most different way, not the way it was when I sat on your lap,

Not the same as when we went to the park, watched television before bed.

My thoughts are of a yesterday before you could no longer say hello,

A vegetable garden recalled, model airplanes together, medals I held.

A flag that has disappeared, material belongings lost with the years,

What I have left are some pictures, your words written, and memories,

So, I thought I would take a moment to say hello! dad, you are not forgotten.

LIGHT THROUGH DARKNESS

To our lives there does exist a different darkness,

When the light of day disappears there is dark of night,

Lasts does it as we slumber until the morning light.

We see the light through darkness as we awake once more,

Darkness of another kind can fill the heart and mind.

Fall into a darkened world through pain and many hurts,

We pray for peace and strength to bring ourselves back,

Step into the light through darkness, we are home again.

A MORNING MILE AND HOME

To beat the heat I took a stroll, a mile down the road,

On my way I saw all their faces, heading for many places.

A good morning, a smile, nothing at all with a blank stare,

In a rush as the cross walks and red lights are forgotten.

Texting as they drive, some of them soon will die,

Because of their ignorance, an innocent ones life.

A cool breeze as the day is still young, no rain and too much sun.

Music in my head to drown out the constant noise of life,

A mile back home with many projects in my sight.

THE HUMAN SPIRIT

It can be broken, fore every one has its difference,

The body and mind take much abuse from our daily survival.

Trauma, whether it be physical or emotional leaves scars,

The human spirit can be attacked in many man made ways.

The world itself with all of its beauty does not destroy from within,

What we face from sacrifice and anything called a miracle wears on us.

I believe the human spirit can and will take much depending on the one,

Strength from the inside is most needed, a wanting to survive and be alive,

It takes its toll from when we are born, a beating of the human spirit.
