UNCLE ERNIE

I saw you once upon a time, back when I was a child,

I could not recall your face fore it has been quite awhile.

My uncle was lost, from a boy to a man I have become,

I think of when I was seven, the last time we were together.

You are my uncle Ernie, from years past I thought of you sometimes,

It seemed that you were worlds away, what happened to everything.

You are the closest there is to seeing a father again, it is in your face,

I am here and you are there, closer than we have ever been, there was then.

Now we are here so far from that yesterday, I am not the same, we made it through pain,

Do you remember when once we were young, I had a father, you were a son,

” Uncle Ernie” Here is to being lost no more, forward we go, memories of before.

TO SAVE HIS DAUGHTER

Already did he sacrifice his life for his country and family,

Doing what it took, in harms way each day to make things safe.

He has survived many dangerous fights in nights of fright,

He was now home, wanted some peace and to know his child,

When they took his daughter, they would know no peace.

A military man, a promise to get her back, to save his daughter,

This was his job, now a personal fight for a loved one’s life.

To save his daughter this man would risk it all, he would not fail,

Not about honor but for his love of a daughter.

TWO SIDES TO A FACE

Which side is my good side I have been asked at times,

I don’t understand your question as your face seems as one.

There are those whom as they speak are thinking something else,

They look at you with eyes caring not what’s in their sight.

A smile so bright but when they turn and walk away, roll their eyes,

So glad to see you, the dirty words flow from their mouths.

Two sides to a face, not so shocking anymore, we know who they are,

They’re all around us, family, friends, and the neighbor next door.

WHEN HE KILLED

When a killer has a heart but how can this be,

A young boy of a slow nature tormented by all.

Never treated right, he grew as an adult child,

Killed his mother and lover, thought they were being bad.

Sent away and then set free, the world was a scary place,

His name was carl, had no one who did love him anyway.

A purpose for a man, born into a sad, hard life of loneliness,

When he killed they sent him away, lost in another place.

He wasn’t meant for this world anymore, quiet with many thoughts,

When he killed he was only twelve years old, he thought they were bad,

He grew up and learned he was wrong, not suppose to kill anyone.

To help another child who would not become like him,

When he killed acertain someone, he thought the world be a better place.

RAGS TO RICHES

He went to rags after some unexpected events,

Wandering the streets with not so much to eat.

Down on his luck with not more than a buck,

Things would change in a most unusual way.

A chance to prove he was smarter than a fool,

He rose from the dirty ground, smarter than he knew.

On top of the world, a financial breakthrough be told,

A story of losing all you have, rags to riches, maybe back.

WITCHES OF TWO

From so long ago they were thought of as evil,

Daughters of darkness, spells cast upon the land.

Witches they are called, some ignorance of man,

Different are they so are we all the same kind.

Descendants from a not so understood world are they,

These witches of two and a secret hidden from today.

Their craft would come to haunt them in a mortal time,

Let their secret be known, a crime would be found,

A magic potion, a lesson for witches of two,

A bad man is dead but there live mortal rules.

LET ME PRETEND

I am somewhere else, far away from this,

The only sound is of birds in the trees happily.

The crime filled streets and sirens are not with me,

There are no voices of thought to ruin my day I say.

Everything is much louder in the real world today,

Peace seems like a rare, lost, gift that will never be again.

Let me pretend that I am not here where there lives trash and fear,

A little bit better, just for a moment, let me pretend.

TAKE MY HEART!

The whole system has crossed the line, take my heart!

Desperate to save his dying son, does anyone care.

Valued only by the type of his insurance, take my heart!

The worth of his childs life becomes not much around a table.

Take my heart! he says, they say no, this is not how it works,

Policy and politics are a crime when it comes to a life.

He would sacrifice everything, risk his life for his son,

” You have no money” they say with such a look, take my heart!

People die everyday, just the way it is when your value is little,

A son survives, a hospital does not want to look bad,

Why could they not do this from the start, take my heart!

WHEN IT’S TIME TO STOP

Family and friends can be a complicated situation,

We grow up together in a house, a town, we travel together.

It seems like we would always be together but things change,

We grow and move away in different directions, times change.

As a child most of us probably thought the world was magic,

Life was forever, and nothing we had or people we knew would be lost.

Forgiveness is a great thing, letting go of anger and a grudge so wise,

Because we may one day not see a friend, speak with a loved one, or miss,

This is no reason to keep a relationship that is toxic or abusive.

Let the anger go, it’s tiring to the soul, a grudge not worth the time,

Just because we love doesn’t mean we have to stay in touch,

When it’s time to stop, nothing more to say, we don’t get along, that’s okay.

It’s not negativity or drama as some might say, letting go is a way,

Let’s just say it’s not about right or wrong, the relationship is gone.

DECEPTION

She, a mother and wife of a man she trusts,

He is a traveler of business to lands of the world,

Baseball cards become a clue, figure it out she will do.

A paper trail of money will lead her to a man she once knew,

Across many countries, she will seek him out, children at home.

A father who does not care, never a thought but money everywhere,

Deception, a most worthless type of human being, he does not see.

How can this be, he has a different reality, not things that you believe,

He is far away, leave him there, go home and start a life today.
