DAYS IN A FOG

Lost I have felt for some days in a fog,

Something to make me feel better, does not work.

This battle has been mine for some years gone by,

To stop one and too start another is not so free.

Foreign substance does change a life but not always nice,

Saving myself from a pain and fear I do sacrifice.

Days in a fog have been a recent thing that must pass,

I have not been the same since I took what they gave.

Everything has stopped as I can not see my way,

Altered has been my daily being, I will find my way to light.

DEMONS OF MUSIC, KISS

Back in the past from where they came,

Four different faces performed on the stage.

Their appearances all covered, hidden from view,

Whom were they really, nobody knew.

Like demons they dressed but music they played,

All of them different, what did they have to say.

In their songs were expressed feelings,

Looking at them didn’t seem so,

Hearts they all had, this soon all would know.

On the drums he will bang with a face like a cat,

His name is peter, inside he’s more than that.

Ace wears a disguise just like the rest,

Playing his guitar is what he does best.

Paul is another, lead guitar he does play,

A star on his face, has something to say.

Like a serpent showing his tongue,

Like a dragon spitting fire,

A mask he does wear and his shoes make him higher.

I HAVE BEEN AWAY

For the last three days I feel I have been away,

Lost much sleep, thought I was losing my mind.

Without that friend, that luxury so needed to move,

We collapse possibly into a sickness not so fine.

All things I do, those for me everyday routines disappeared,

I felt a sense of guilt, failure over my obsessions so needed.

Streaks broken that I believe to be a necessity for my daily survival,

A break much needed as physical and mental health seemed questionable.

I have been away but I think in a much needed way, rest my mind but not the thoughts,

Rest this body that is never much rested, I have been away, for me a different way.

WHICH WAY TO PARADISE?

They come from a land across the sea,

A place most of us will never see.

On the outside a world has a face so green,

In its heart fear and anger much to mean.

So beautiful it is but very hard to understand,

How or why there could be so much blood on their hands.

Out of this struggle four men emerged,

From their home called Ireland with something to say.

As Bono he’s known with his voice to the world,

A message he sends through the music made, heard.

While on the stage not a dancer is he,

From his heart speak the words of a man,

Whose seen with his eyes the pain in our world not meant to be.

What his music has given to his band and himself,

Too the world he gives back showing his feelings and

Care for humanity with a bit of his wealth.

They’ve been around for many years,

Too try and shed some of the worlds tears. U2

WHICH WAY TO PARADISE

Could there be a road, a special path that leads to this place,

Is there such a wonderful world where everything is perfect.

Which way to paradise? might there be a map that leads me home,

A compass, maybe that would be the trick that gets me there.

Is there a chance that my eyes could be the magic that guide me,

Do you suppose it can be an invisible land within my soul and mind.

Which way to paradise? have you really ever seen such surroundings?

I thought paradise was where I rest, not sure this is where I belong, the best.

AGAINST NATURE

These things that are against nature are a reality,

Certain it is that we are not allowed to be here forever.

Trees may not stay small, age they will, older than man are many,

Mountains are formed, they age and change but may be always.

Against nature that all things will stay the same, this is true,

There are more of these against nature, take a look with me.

Burning things that sicken the lungs and dirty the air,

Bombs dropping from the sky, chemical spills everywhere.

Trash tossed from windows, lining the streets you see,

Environment is being altered, everyone sees, eyes are closed.

FROM 18 UNTIL TODAY

Much younger was i back when the sun rose much higher in the sky,

Still but a teenager as once a thought that i might have been a man.

When i was eighteen i was going to the beach, dreaming about life ahead,

Long blonde hair and searching for that always wanted Summer tan.

The sun begins to move west and i go beyond those teen years,

I follow the sun, it looks down upon me each morning then i chase it.

I walk the road, i live my life, the sun travels further than i can run,

The more i follow then the older i seem, i have dreamed, no more eighteen.

I am older than some friends once were, older than a father gone far away,

From 18 until this day I have changed in different ways, the sun now half way.

THE WOLF WILL COME

Legend and real, stories told from generations ago,

In the dark of night, somewhere within the hills, a cry.

When the moon is full a beast stalks its prey, teeth so sharp,

Man would be the hunted as it’s told on these fog filled nights.

The wolf will come, does this creature of old speak in howls,

It does live, out there in the hills this animal of story does hunt.

Fast and strong with eyes fixed on that which enters its world,

Between legend and reality this creation from god does exist,

Listen for the howl in the night, echoes from the wolf that stalks tonight.

THE IMMORTALS

Superman can fly high, he can touch the endless sky,

I am not made of steel for I am real, fly, no not I.

Batman seeks shelter within a cave, a mask covers his face,

I am not a caped crusader, strong am I, see that I wear no disguise.

From a spinning web he travels along the building walls,

I am not spiderman therefore at times I may fall.

Watch him run, he is known as the flash, another with a mask,

No super hero am I but possess do I the power of fast.

The hulk is powerful, strong and holds not many a fear,

I am not a fantasy, I get scared and have tears.

Captain America with his shield is fearless and strong,

I am not one of the Immortals, I stand just a man.

MORRO BAY

MORRO BAY

A POEM BY KEITH GARRETT

We went away, far away,
To a town of sand and water to play.

At times the winds were cold and fast,
The weather changed, this did not last.

Life is slow and peaceful too,
The people all friendly, something new.

We played in the sand with no worries of things,
A mother a daughter, my two sons, and the joy that they bring.

As they sat in the water the boats we watched rest,
We all stood together to watch the sunset.

Walking the streets of this place never been,
Wanting to live here too call it my friend.

As it rose to the morning, the suns rays of light,
All day it would let us enjoy such a sight.

We get ourselves lost in a place such as this,
Oh! nothing could be sweeter, the rest of the world i would not miss.

If you ever get a chance to go to this place,
A fresh air you will smell, different foods you will taste.

When it came time to leave feelings bitter sweet,
To this world of yours again we will meet.

I wanna go back, go back one day,
To this place of peace known, Morro Bay.
