DID YOU HEAR IT LAST NIGHT?
I awoke last night to a booming sound, echoing
Across the sky,
Cracking like a whip was it as I lay there listening
And wondering.
Thunder, louder it became, the sound of sparks high
In the sky,
Very unusual as my eyes needed to see what this
Spectacle could be.
Nothing could I see except the sounds ringing into
The dark night,
Did you hear it last night? it came out of the sky,
I tell you no lies.
Like heavy footsteps across the clouds, horses galloping
With no sight,
What was happening, was it something so real, was it
Just I whom heard,
Did you hear it last night, did it bring you fright,
Was it from beyond the sky?

A CHANGING MAN
A CHANGING MAN
Sit down my darling, sit back and relax,
Just listen,
I'm here to tell you a story about the life
Of a man.
Like an outlaw roaming the countryside, day to day,
Mistakes not realized as he rides blindly Into
Loneliness.
Selfish and angry, as this anger stole the beauty
And hope
Of what the world had to offer, nothing seen through
His eyes.
Riding each day Into every sunset, never watching It
Go down,
Wasting time, running from a chance for happiness,
This man.
Into his life one day, a woman of such beauty, In his
Eyes he did see,
Still taking for granted all there could be, holding
Onto mistrust.
She went away, she went far away, she saw the sunset,
Not he,
A changing man lives today, he rides and rides with
His head held high.
Mistakes understood, selfishness gone away, anger
turned to laughter,
He can see the beauty of this world through his now
Opened eyes.
Wasting no time as he does not run, he watches the
Sun go down,
Someday with her again to see the sunrise, to watch
The sun go down.
A changing man can see, a changing man Is he.

EIGHTEEN WHEELS
EIGHTEEN WHEELS
Leaving out of North Dakota, heading for
Odessa town,
Hopped up into my ole' truck, eighteen wheels
Under my butt.
Haulin' a load of lumber and steel,
Me and my music box, my hands on the stearin'
Wheel.
I'm headin' for the heat of Texas,
It's gonna be a long, long, road, don't you know.
I turned up some good ole' country tunes,
Time to put the hammer down.
This life I chose, on the road it's to anywhere I
Roam,
Just a simple, Kansas farm boy, one day I'll go
Back home.
Eighteen wheels, rollin' down the highway,
Eighteen wheels, doin' it my way.
Just a good ole' boy with places to be,
A country heart, and I got things to see,
Eighteen wheels and I'm runnin' free.

ECHOES AND SHADOWS
ECHOES AND SHADOWS
When the wind blows there are echoes in time,
Echoes of all that have passed on by.
The sounds of a lifetime, listen as the children
Have grown,
Echoes of voices lost with the emptying hourglass.
There are the echoes of those who once lived,
Laughter of young ones, now part of the wind.
Shadows of the seasons, one by one, gone,
Shadows remembered of a man standing in the sun.
Shadows of trees that stood tall in the sky,
Across mountain tops, shadows from morning till
Night.
Echoes and shadows from the beginning of time,
Time passed by, seen from many eyes.

RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
The span of life Is short In time,
To do as much as you can before you're gone.
There's no place to run, there's no escape,
The process of aging can't be beat.
Take things' slow and the days' still pass,
If you move fast they don't slow down.
Run, run, run for your life,
Inside the clock keeps' on ticking until
There is nomore time.
Don't waste time worrying about dying,
Spend every moment trying to live life to the
Fullest.
Keep on moving, creating energy, slow down and
You'll die,
Search and search as much as you can find.
You do not see It now, your end Is nowhere In sight,
So take It all In, run for your life.

RUNNING WITH THE WIND
RUNNING WITH THE WIND
I thought there was loss, a feeling of death
Brought to me,
Alive, alive, two separate paths' taken, gone
And we go on and on.
A prisoner, never was I, free to run through
The fields of life,
No chains' weighed down upon this mans' moving
body and soul.
The wind not seen has a strength and power fore
We know it is there,
Seen am I as the dark clouds' of rain falling,
I go with the wind blowing.
If no face had I, no body to see and judge, just
A voice of words,
Would you think something of me, a material being
Valued more?
Running with the wind gives me a friend which can not
See to judge,
For me, I do not possess an Image fore we are both
Blind, only running.
Free to be, free to be me as live and breathe this
Man does,
Walk with another once again but for now I'm running
With the wind.

LISTEN!
LISTEN!
Close your eyes and open your mind,
Through your ears the sounds' will work
Into your thoughts,
When the wind howls It makes a sound,
If a branch falls' from a tree, It cracks'
On the ground.
Listen as a plane screams' across the sky,
To the sound of laughter In a yard near by.
What do you hear when you listen to a song,
The sounds' of Instruments playing along?
Do you listen when a love cries out to you,
Possibly what hurts her, you have not a clue.
To nature listen, It has something to say,
Enjoy the sounds' of every day.

IN A BLACK CAR DRIVING
IN A BLACK CAR DRIVING
Dressed up In black, not to loud, driving
Down the road,
Music In my head, the boss sings' out a tune,
I'm driving.
Sunglasses to match this beautiful machine of black,
Eyes wandering, scenery passing by as I ride, dreaming.
In a black car driving, I'm moving down the road to
You,
In a black car driving, eyes fixed on the horizon,
Driving.
With the window down I can feel the wind, listen to
The wind,
My dreaming mind takes me to you, the way to you Is
Complicated.
Down the road as you are not so far away, just a
Touch away,
A smile shows through on your face, every day this way.

A PAINFUL MEMORY
A PAINFUL MEMORY
Our minds remember, a picture or scenes from
The past,
A reel to reel movie that for a lifetime lasts,
Beautiful and sad.
Scars are formed from many types of pain, a
Reminder of your days,
We take a look backwards of the steps we take,
Where we played.
A painful memory is more than one, It may reshape
Us into something strong,
If we can't learn from a lesson taught, it may be
We wander in circles of not.
A painful memory has found us all, we stand to
Experience and remember the fall,
It is a hurtful thing that follows us through,
A painful memory as we live each day new.

WITH CLOSED EYES
WITH CLOSED EYES
Many things' are noticed when one can't see,
Against our face, the wind, or a bird chirping
In a tree.
From the air, the sound of a plane soaring by,
Thunderclaps as loud as a sonic boom.
People laughing with each other, driving past,
Dogs' barking In a near by yard as they're listened
Too.
The sound of music heard through an open window,
Two people In love saying goodbye at the door.
There are many, many things' we notice with closed
Eyes,
Not only the darkness that's with us Inside.
The mind will open at the time our eyes close,
And see more than can be Imagined In this dark world.
