A DAY WITHOUT SYMPATHY

              A DAY WITHOUT SYMPATHY
I awoke in the morning, I fell out of bed,

A bad headache but no aspirin for my head.

I went for a cup of coffee but only an empty
 Jar,
Maybe some toast but the butter was at the
 Store.
I went to get the paper in a puddle of mud,

The dog chewed up my shoes, what am I to do.

Got dressed and headed for the car, off to work
 I'll go,
The car wasn't there, stolen wouldn't you know.

Went to call the police, locked myself out of
 The house,
Headed for the bus stop, watched the bus drive
 On by.
I flagged down a cab, please get me to work,

No wallet in my pocket, I gave him my watch.

I walked through the door, fearing I was so
 Late,
This is your day off, you don't work today.

No way home so I put out my thumb,

No one would stop, I walked all the way.

I had not a key, Oh! what a day,

I broke the window, the door was open all
 The way.
My T.V. was gone, the phone did not work,

Nothing to eat, time for some sleep.

I went to my room, the bed was gone,

A day without sympathy, on the floor I did lay.

                                                                                    Keith Garrett

FINDING FREEDOM

               FINDING FREEDOM

The search for freedom and a fight to keep it,

After thousands of years more is taken away today.

It's all up for sale, we can barely walk in the
 Hills anymore,

Dirt, water, and even air are not ours without
 A dollar.

We are not as free as we believe, we are allowed
 To do as they say.

All wars are not about freedom, most are of
 Corruption and money,

Finding freedom when so much has changed is
 Becoming rare.

We are losing it from every direction, before
Our eyes, and behind our backs,

The enemy appears to be us, look to our neighbor
 More than across the sea.

Look around people, we are losing our rights,
Finding freedom between what is seen.

FAVORS IN THREES

              FAVORS IN THREES

How is it possible to change the world,

Can one man get it started, where to begin.

Do a favor of unselfishness and ask that in
 return

 This person do three favors,

Two more favors of you must be accomplished
 To start.

It is that someone first did a kindness for you,

They then asked of you to do these three things.

Favors of three may be quite a sacrifice indeed,

A price this may be that you pay in many a way.

A person, just one to take a chance is possible,

If each that have been given this gift does
 In return

Pass it on then it will never stop.

The world would be as one family, In other words,

           A PERFECT WORLD.

A LONER OF A MAN

              A LONER OF A MAN

He saw the sun but when the sun went down,

He wanted nothing more of that which was
 Around.

Heading for the great Colorado Rocky mountains
 Said he,

I will not be back until I see a land of
 Eternity.

A long time ago, this man not many would know,

As for the few, he treated them with kindness,
 they would not forget.

A loner of a man, no choice to love and care, an
 Inherited family,

Because he did help another kind, they took from
Him the love in his life.

He wanted to be alone and he learned to care,
 Again only pain and despair,

A mountain man you see, he had a life, until
 Life met eternity.

BLUE JEANS

                BLUE JEANS

Antique in time, from the seventies,
 Apair so fine,

I remember I put them away, blue Jeans
 For another day.

A touch faded were they, comfortable in
 A certain way,

Worn were they to a party, perhaps a
 Barbecue or two.

A Saturday night drive-in, what jeans
 Were worn by you,

Blue jeans I took from a shelf, dusty,
 Aged from time.

they fit me once before, now I can wear
 Them in my mind.

A CLOUD CHOSEN

             A CLOUD CHOSEN

I travel along, across the sky, floating
 Weightless,

Down below there is you, recognize i do.

Feel the wind blow through your hair, I
 Am there,

Call on me if ever you need from me anything.

I rest on my cloud looking down on where I
 Once stood,

In your yard watching the birds fly in the sky.

There are many clouds throughout time never
 Ending,

But it's this cloud, a cloud chosen for myself.

A place to be alone, a place where dreams are
 Real,

The sun shines upon me, its warmth I feel, I
 Can see

 Myself smile in the light.

A friend that's true would do for another,
 Anything,

If ever you need i will jump down off my
 Cloud to be.

WESTERN WORLD

              WESTERN WORLD

The old west, a place where a cowboy could
 Roam the land,

Drifters could be seen riding in from the
 Horizon, long ago.

Wagon trains with families seeking that new
 World of hope and prosperity,

Bandits and outlaws, robbing banks, criminals
Of the day hanging from trees.

A western town where a sheriff walked the street
 Trying to keep some peace,

Gamblers could be heard drinking and howling
 From a saloon, long ago.

Dance hall girls dressed for the time, somewhere
 Back in a western time,

The eighteen hundreds, where pioneers carved a
 Trail through the years.

Western world, where families worked the land,
the future was a mystery to be Seen.

TWO

                     TWO

One and one create a two, In the afternoon
 A time of two,
In the dark of night, early morning strikes
 The clock at two.
In the park walk a man and woman, hand In
 Hand they are two,
Feet In the sand, once a girl I knew, we were
 one but we were two.
I've loved only once as I've shared my life with
 Few, only two,
Now It Is that this man walks alone, he has
 Wandering feet of two.
In a world seen In time, time lost, the passing
 Of time, Years of two,
Time to understand why there Is no longer us,
 The way we were two.
Remember the love, a day when we were something,
 Thoughts of two,
I remember yesterday was today, I think of you
And the passing years of two.

SAIL WITH ME

                SAIL WITH ME

Give me this day, this moment In time,
 Dear friend,

Come on board, come with me on a magical
 Journey.

If love Is In your hear, If care Is In your
 soul, sweet one,

Sail away, sail with me across the horizon,
 Beyond, far beyond.

Let the wind carry us through the morning fog,
 Into the rising sun,

Together we watch as whales and dolphins sing
 To all that listen.

The water rises and falls as we glide across
 Gods' playground,

Come sit close, take hold of this hand, lay
 Your head upon

My strong shoulder as my words to you say let
 Me be your man.

Sail with me darling as the sun goes down and
 The stars awake,

Dream with me as we traavel Into the night,
 Goodnight.

MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

               MY MIND IS AN ISLAND

My mind Is an Island, many places to roam,

Different things' that I see when I'm on my
 Own.

If wander I do, to far away,

Lost might I be In this land made for me.

See as I do and think as I may,

There are beautiful things' In my thoughts'
 Every day.

I can find my way back to where It Is I
 should be,

If I'm looking the right way or a trail I
 Might leave.

My Island can be peaceful and sunny or stormy
 And dark,

I'd rather be happy and have my Island be a
 Walk in the park.
