I thought i’d call to you and talk awhile,
I’m sitting here alone, I’ve been thinking.
What can i do to make this world a better place,
Let go of anger and sometimes terrible thoughts.
Do not waste this time that I’ve been given,
Smile and say hello to a passerby.
Lend a hand to a less fortunate soul,
Put a little trust in man, this I’ve been told.
Do not take a life, be there for a friend,
Teach a child right from wrong.
Love as much as you can, hate is not a gift in hand,
Do not steal or act in violence,
I’ve been thinking god, I just needed you to listen.
Keith Garrett
I like your poem, and you’ve shared some thoughts I feel, too. Life is in the details — the small stuff. A kind word, a ready warm smile, the recognition that as humans we’re all in the same shaky boat, having and caring about friends, loving our families — we can change the world one word, one smile, on embrace at a time.
I enjoyed reading this poem today, too! Lots of positive energy here. Nice work.
I’m digging it! We are all on the same blue marble. Thanks for sharing those words!

True words! Thanks for the follow
I liked this a lot.
Nice.. I prefer your work when you don’t try to rhyme, which gives the poem a stilted quality. I think you are at your best as a poet when you speak in a more natural voice. Are you on Google +? There are poetry groups there where you can put your work up for discussion and comment..
Interesting. You must have read loads of rhyming poetry in your youth.

Thanks for visiting my page. I do like this poem – there are too few people thinking about others, and far too many who are selfish and grasping. It’s a bit like reading the beatitudes
