A LONER OF A MAN

A LONER OF A MAN

He saw the sun but when the sun went down,

He wanted nothing more of that which was around.

Heading for the great Colorado Rocky mountains said he,

I will not be back until I see a land of eternity.

A long time ago, this man not many would know,

As for the few, he treated them with kindness, they would not forget.

A loner of a man, no choice to love and care, an inherited family,

Because he did help another kind, they took from him the love in his life.

He wanted to be alone and he learned to care, again only pain and despair,

A mountain man you see, he had a life, until life met eternity.

LOST IN THE WIND

LOST IN THE WIND

The wind blows, where it goes only it knows,

An echo that sounds whenever it be around.

Listen when it roars, when it sleeps, hear the peace,

Feel the wind as it will move all around, touches what is found.

In the wind, what things do get lost, yesterdays thoughts,

Leaves from the trees, branches, or what tomorrow could bring,

Lost in the wind, material things, a soul that sings, everything.

THE CAPED CRUSADERS

THE CAPED CRUSADERS

Do you remember? If you were a child, an adult would know,

Nineteen sixty six was the beginning of a superheroes show.

I watched as there were villains, Batman and Robin would only know,

I collected cards when I was a child, the batmobile, and all they acquired.

Between a world of reality and make believe, Batman and the boy wonder were a child’s dream,

A call from the commissioner that a criminal was back in town, the bat signal was found.

The BatBoat, the Batcopter, so amazed was I by the Batcave, down the poles and on their way,

Masks and capes, crazy weapons to help them on their journey to stop the criminally insane.

Remember their names, so many to say, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, and penguin are a memory,

So many villains, can you think of their names, look at their faces, a child once again.

Batman and Robin, a comical team, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson were reality in a dream,

Let’s not forget Alfred, Buttler, and keeper of secrets in between, Gotham city and fantasy.

NOTHING

NOTHING

At one time or another everything was nothing,

One day in time nothing would and will turn to everything.

Nothing is a word used in many ways, decay into nothing,

” You are nothing” can be a lifetime emotional scar that haunts.

What are you doing? a friend or child may respond with nothing!

I did nothing today, you must have done something, nothing can not be done.

Nothing can be so lonely, as it can not be seen, it does not have any dreams,

” I have nothing to live for” listen close, as we all have the greatest things to live for.

I was nothing until I met you, I was more than I thought before it was me and you,

Nothing is only a word, it is a sound that many a soul has heard with a word.

GIVE ME STRENGTH

GIVE ME STRENGTH

Days can be a struggle at times, feeling much alone,

Physical pain and emotional scars are hard fought.

Stress and the desire to overcome tire a body and mind,

Worries of the time keep a soul from sleep in the night.

Give me strength to make it through beyond this coming sunset,

Guide me into my day of many challenges that tear at my heart.

Wisdom would be a true gift as I try to better my life and self,

Thank you for listening as there is much hope as I stand strong.

WITHIN THE FOG

“WITHIN THE FOG”

Trees standing, trees empty and alone,

Mountains’ cold, high above below.

All around, within the fog life stands’ still,

A layer of white, floating, hovering so low.

Within the fog, a world hidden from the light,

Vanishes, disappears’ as the suns’ warmth overpowers.

Beauty and life lie beneath, within the fog.

HANGMAN

HANGMAN

On a dirty street, in a western town back in time, the gallows,

He is the hangman, stands always still as the shadows drift with time.

He is everywhere, face covered always in a mask of darkness,

Not a ruler but he holds the authority to life and death.

A noose hovers, it sways with the wind, waiting for those who sin,

You didn’t just break the law, the ultimate crime lived in your mind.

A life you did take, murder will get you a date with the hangman,

Many years ago when life was hard on the trail, guns an everyday tool,

When a man chooses the wrong road, decisions of criminal deeds will do him in.

The hangman will watch as you climb the stairs, each step you will sweat,

A choice you have made, time to pay, the hangman does have his day.

CELTIC SOUNDS

CELTIC SOUNDS’

Irish music from a faraway land,

Mystical tunes Into my mind, they are heard.

Soothing to the soul, these words listened too,

Closing my eyes, drifting Into a dream state of peace.

These voices of Angels’ singing so soft,

Echoes Into your thoughts,’ feelings’ of at ease.

Instruments of sound, like a symphony of happiness,

Something of a heavenly miracle.

Celtic sounds’ from long ago,

Live on, and on like spirits’ In the wind.

BOOK OF FAITH

“BOOK OF FAITH”

I’d like to read to you a story, sit back and listen, dear friend,

This Is about a man who has lost and found things of happiness.

He Is not a wise man, although at times he knows of wisdom,

He Is not an angry man, but anger lives within his spirit.

This man walks a road of at times fear and confidence lost,

Happiness Is that which he so much wants to hold onto but there

Are those moments when to be happy can be a struggle, a search.

He Is a man of Inner strength, he possesses no surrender,

Will not give up,

There are those times when weakness attacks and the battle rages.

He holds In him close to his heart, faith that all will be as It should,

That things will turn out, God willing the way he Intended.

This man has much love In him as he did and still loves but will

Again love.

To live on his own, too live his life and again share his time with

Another.

This Is my story, this Is my book of faith told only to you dear

Friend,

Keep It with you always, may the Lord bless and watch over you

As your road Is traveled each and every day Into the rest of your life.

Love always, Keith Garrett

CHILDREN WERE WE

CHILDREN WERE WE

Echoes In time, treasured sounds dreamed In my mind,

From a lifetime ago In a place from the past, a town.

Walking In the streets, a simple time remembered,

Shadows, ghosts of friends’ thought of once In awhile.

Warm Summer’s with not a care In the world for us,

Young were we as If today might be yesterday.

With the wind, the years are swept away Into today,

The voice of a woman, a girl brought from a distant day.

Children were we just a moment ago, only a moment ago,

From a man to a woman again I might know, Images of children,

Thoughts of a place sometimes traveled In my mind alone.

For you,

Keith Garrett
