UNIVERSE
Created within me Is the answer to the beginning
Of time,
Is there a start or finish, an end or beginning to
What's mine.
In many a direction I must be,
Everything travels' through my darkness, who knows'
What there is to me.
Older than anything, how long have I really existed,
Where do I come from, Is the answer a mystery never
To be discovered.
All things' that live within my space,
Rotating forever, will they always be In this place.
I am the universe, not knowing what I really am,
With no air or much light, not a visitor from your land.
I'll stay here, who can say just how long,
Perhaps till an end comes to my time.

TRAIN RIDE
TRAIN RIDE
Awaiting Its' arrival as here It comes to
Take me away,
Sounds like thunder rumbling down the track,
Whistling.
Puffing black smoke up Into the air, Its' headlight
Shining,
This monster of steel Is here, time for me to climb
Aboard.
Listen to the hissing from this steam engine, hear It,
We take off heading through the hills' with much to see.
From out of the window stare do I as we pass through,
Darkness from within a mountain carved out a passage.
Tons of rock and dirt hanging above us as we travel,
Moving through this tunnel Into the light, sun going
Down.
I listen to the sound of the power of this traveling
Train,
Out of the window Is a clear sky as the light from the
Full moon.
Shines down, guiding our way across the land.

IN SEARCH OF
IN SEARCH OF
In flight, searching for hope of a better today,
Into the sun, across the wide open ocean below.
The sky has many colors' today, look to the sky,
Seagull soaring up so high, through the earths' window.
Freedom to wander, to fly, why can't I fly up so high,
Everything Is seeking In search of answers' of their own.
As a bird In flight, a man walks' the road,
In search of his own Independence of where he belongs'.

AT THE TOP OF THE HILL
AT THE TOP OF THE HILL
From where I stand It seems' so high,
My struggle to climb up near the sky.
To get up there at the top of the hill,
Will take my energy, also my will.
Scrapes and bruises are a part of my quest,
Where I'd like to get for my life to be the best.
Slip I might or stumble along the way,
Giving up Is not part of my game.
When I get there at the top of the hill,
Accomplished my fight for the thing I did want.

TOUGH ON THE SCREEN
TOUGH ON THE SCREEN
Keith Garrett
Heroes or bad guys, they played them all,
These stars of the movies, where are they now.
A man named Cagney, Edward G. Robinson too,
John Garfield, Audie Murphy was quite a hero.
Jack Palance, a tough man for sure,
John Wayne, the duke was a man of strength.
Clint Walker and Richard Boone, big as can be,
Forrest tucker, James Coburn, men of the screen.
Marlon Brando had a name as big as life,
James Dean was a rebel, Richard Widmark was mean.
Fess Parker was a big man, Gary Cooper so great,
Spencer Tracy awesome, Humphrey Bogart one of a kind.
Clark Gable, Anthony Quinn, greatness back in time,
Charlton Heston and Gregory Peck, actors so fine.
Lee Marvin, what a look, Charles Bronson, one so tough,
Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster, the talent of two.
Yul Brynner, magnificent a star, Robert Mitchum bad or
Good,
Sean Connery, accent with a gun, George Peppard, blue
Eyes and tough.
Tall and mean, Clint Eastwood and a lifetime of movies,
Lee Van Cleef a man with a glare, Steve McQueen big on
The screen.
Jack Nicholson, Peter Fonda, and Dennis Hopper on their
Riding machines,
Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall, they played the hero,
They did it all.
Robert Ryan or Robert Taylor back in the day, tough,
Some would say,
Michael Landon, Robert Urich, Lee Majors, they all
Were great.
Robert Conrad was tough, the wild, wild, West,
William Shatner in charge, star trek, and outerspace.
TWO ON A SWING
TWO ON A SWING
Here we are in the late afternoon, the sun
going down,
I came by your house to say hello, it's been
Some time.
I can't believe it's almost Summer can you,
I see you still have that porch swing your dad
Put up.
How has everything been going for you since I've
Been gone,
I'm glad, I can only stay for awhile, you do
Understand.
Remember the days when we would just talk and sit
On your swing,
The weekends in the Summer sun, laughing and not a
Worry to be found.
We were just kids, young, times like those are memories
Of fun,
I could see your tears when i had to leave this place.
I'm in your heart as you'll forever be in mine,
Let's just sit here for awhile until the sun fades,
I'll never go away, remember two on a swing in those
Summer days.

MAN OF THE WOODS
" MAN OF THE WOODS"
Born quite a distance from civilized land,
This man was,
In this place, these surroundings of still and
Quiet lives he.
Immense sort of a man bearded with scraggly hair,
Hunts for that which he eats, gun or knife In hand
has he.
In weather hostile or friendly he makes his way,
Survives,
Cabin built of wood Is where this loner dwells In
Silence.
Content to be In this place without another soul
For company,
Whittling wood or the harmonica played Is a passion
Of a man alone.
Fish that have been caught In a stream near by, fried
Up for dinner,
Eating next to a fire that takes the chill from the night
As he thinks.
On the porch settles this soul who exists In solitude
Enjoying the night,
Not so complete without the puff of smoke from his
Tobacco Filled pipe.
As he speaks goodnight to all around, all that lives,
He's Off to slumber,
Who he Is matters' not, man of the woods, farewell.

HEAVEN IS WHERE?
HEAVEN IS WHERE
We live our lives from day to day,
Wondering what could be when we have to go away.
Searching for the meaning of this thing we call
Life,
Maybe we should enjoy our time here Instead of
Studying why.
Families have lived since the beginning of time,
Where have they gone, I think In my mind.
Another dimension not for us to understand,
A garden of Eden perhaps In a far off land.
No suffering of pain or sorrow could this be,
Another plane of reality.
Heaven Is where, I do not know,
Far, far away, I dream this Is so.

FROM A LONG TIME AGO
"FROM A LONG TIME AGO"
I lived life times ago on farmland worked with hands,
A mans' hands,
A family we were, my wife, children, and animals for pets,
Back in time.
Possibly I went by the name of Sam, a man of principles,
Of beliefs,
My children may have been raised to believe In the Lord,
Too respect.
If a wife I did have then she might have been a beautiful
Woman,
She would have been a great cook and a fine and decent
Person.
Imagine there would have been much love In our home,
Working hard from sunrise till sunset would have been
This family.
Friends' and neighbors' with names now vanished Into
A memory,
A town that may have existed but no longer alive, a long
Time ago.
I may have been known as Sam from a long time ago,
Maybe so,
Land I may have owned and worked my fingers to the bone.
It's possible this man of beliefs had a family that he
Loved so much,
I could have had children of which grew up and had
Families too.
To a man named Sam who may have lived a long time ago,
Who may have lived with a loving wife, children, and
Had many,
Caring good friends', If I had known you from a long
Time ago.

FACES OF CHANGE
FACES OF CHANGE
I slip and fall, rise up on my feet to walk
Once more,
The hurt shows' through, bothered by me pain of
The fall.
Each day tells' of a different story, a turning
Page of this time,
Memories of a face which lives with me day and night.
They pass us by, cross our paths' for only a moment,
Faces of change In a world of mystery and surprise.
She follows' me on a course far, far away or close
Behind,
Is It that I'm following her as these steps' search
to find.
Faces of difference, faces of change, go away, they
Go away,
Some may stay as others' appear without warning Into
A hearts' day.
