A GATHERING

A GATHERING

They come together as one to speak out against a wrong,

What do they show the world around them, they teach nothing.

A man is dead, who is it they blame, believe with anger the law,

They do no better as their protest is of evil, used as an excuse.

A gathering of criminals looting and terrorizing to show their dislike,

Attacking and beating those of different color out of hate and anger.

Possibly it could be their frustration with their own lives comes to life,

Destroying their own town, fires burning, does this make them proud.?

Jobs and economy being ruined, in their own town they raise their fists in triumph,

Are they fools, they are of ignorance, blaming society for more than one incident.

This is no gathering of good people, they are of no help as they create the bad,

No good will come of this, only a town scarred and destroyed, never forgotten.

A GAMBLER

A GAMBLER

Spin the wheel, maybe a roll of the dice,

A bad hand at cards, so it’s said, you’ll lose your shirt.

Bet on a game, football, basketball, baseball, it’s all the same,

Your wallet is empty, credit cards are okay.

Horses are great, this time you feel lucky inside,

At the finish line, a house could be on the line.

Deal in drugs, surely a gambler you’ll be,

If it’s not the law, a dead man you might be.

A car thief is a risk, money at your feet,

End up in prison, oh! what a life you lead.

Ask of a loan shark, a favor please,

Put up your life, no friend indeed.

A gambler, a gambler, in each one of us may be,

What risks do you take for all that you need.

IS LIFE BUT A DREAM?

IS LIFE BUT A DREAM?

When we go to bed do we go to sleep,

Are we already dreaming of the life we believe?

Are the things that we see imagination or real,

Is there another life that we live and feel?

Is our reality here and now,

Are we a thought of someone else somehow?

Could it be that we are in another ones mind,

In some other place, in some other time.

Maybe in a coma for a period not known,

When we wake up to a life not our own,

What does it all mean, Is life but a dream?

Keith Garrett

I FOUND YOU IN THE DARK

I FOUND YOU IN THE DARK

I went to sleep last night, seemed to me that i was awake,

Clear were all things, not the same as would be a dream.

So far i did walk as seconds appeared to be a journey forever,

There were as i traveled odd and unusually mixed up scenes.

I heard your voice out there but what direction was not clear,

No control over where i am, my sleeping mind guides my way,

I was brought to you, I found you in the dark, darkness has gone.

I AM A MAN

I AM A MAN

A part of this world, i have a soul and spirit,

I am a man with a heart, i try to understand.

At times i do listen, not as often as i should,

The struggles within me keep me from the best i can.

Hard headed but strong, i work with my hands,

Children i gave much of myself too,

Possibly the day will come when they understand.

I am a writer of words and thoughts,

I let the music fill my head.

Sometimes anger and hate invade my not so perfect land,

Many miles of walking clear my aching head.

Mistakes I’ve made in many a way,

I am a man, trying as hard as i can.

Decisions and choices from long ago,

Make me who i am, who i am sometimes i don’t know.

I pray that the judgement of others is not that which will come from god,

I am a man, hope you will understand.

LOST IN THE WILD

LOST IN THE WILD

To step outside the world that I’ve known,

Leave it all behind and those whom know me.

Off on a great journey to see it all,

Into the wilderness as if nothing else matters anymore.

Too try things never tried before,

Experience life through a new open door.

Perhaps a fear of what lies ahead,

I trek across the land, survive if I can.

See many new things from my eyes,

Into the night I hear nature cry.

Not expecting never to go home again,

Lost in the wild is where my life ends.

HE STOOD BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

HE STOOD BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD

Driving along the dusty road I could see him In the distance,

A tall figure of a man, a long way from anywhere, who Is he.

Dressed In Jeans, a bit dirty to be expected, boots, and a dark shirt,

Warm outside In the middle of the Summer for where he stood.

What are you doing out here so far from civilization I asked him,

He did not speak, would you like a lift and maybe a drink of water.?

He hesitated and then stared, a very strange sort of man standing there,

There might possibly have been something wrong as he accepted the ride without words.

We traveled along for quite awhile, music playing as quiet rode along with me,

He was such a mysterious being but for some reason I felt trust In him.

We kept driving along the road, many sights to see, I looked at him, he smiled,

Who Is this man whom doesn’t speak and stood by the side of a road In the heat.

We came to a place where In front of us stood hills stretching far beyond our reach,

He motioned for me to stop, Put his hand on my shoulder and then again smiled,

Where are you going I asked,? He pointed, got out of my car and walked away,

Turning he said the words thank you friend and was nomore to be seen.

Keith Garrett

I CAN HEAR YOU

I CAN HEAR YOU

you are somewhere, everywhere, and here, they do not know,

You can not be seen, not by me but I know that you are there.

This came upon me one day in a fast way, an accident for me,

A curse or gift we will see, I am afraid of that which can not be seen.

I can hear you, thought I was losing my mind, voices in my head,

You are in between here and there, you speak to me as I do not see.

You are all around, I hear you as your sound echoes throughout,

I can hear you, you do see me, it is you that can not be seen.
