A BOAT LOST

                     A BOAT LOST

Slowly floating, adrift in waters so calm,

Why does it have no travelers, alone.

Fog and mist surround this shape of wood,

Where has it been, where does it travel?

No answers does it give to questions,

Drifting, slowly drifting to a place of nowhere.

A BEGGAR, A THIEF

                   A BEGGAR, A THIEF

He wanders the streets, a taste for food, a thirst
 For drink,

Cold to the bones, waiting for a warm place to sleep.

Asking for that which comforts his pain,

Pride and self respect are put aside.

A human being, a man with a story,

A beggar today without any glory,

Taking what he wants, no morals or remorse.

Criminal thoughts, a good man not,

Working for nothing, he does not care.

He steals anything, he has no heart,

A thief many times over, a quitter of sorts.

A beggar, a thief, so many differences of course.

          Keith Garrett,

A BASEBALL DREAM

                  A BASEBALL DREAM

On a farm he grew up, the early days of the game,

A bat of his own was made from a tree that stood alone.

He had a name for his bat, a certain magic it contained,

Circumstances would get in the way, a dream put aside.

Disappeared without a trace until he arrived on a day,

His special bat carried in hand, this was to be his
 Last chance.

For only a moment he would stand beneath the lights,

A baseball dream before he faded into the night.

1969

                   1969

I was a child in 1969, I had not a clue of the world,

I knew of certain things, those of which I lived through.

Riding my bike and a deadly Halloween night, that's
 Right,

I remember all that I did as a kid, a lifetime ago and a
 Family.

Vietnam was a reality and I was protected by my childish
 World,

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid, Clint Eastwood was
 the man,

Raindrops keep falling on my head, Simon and Garfunkel
 Were grand.

Scooby Doo and all of the colorful cartoons that I knew,
 I think of you,

Baseball with the miracle Mets, Bill Russell, and the
 champion Celtics.

Joe Namath with his Guarantee, the Jets beat the Colts,
 Charles Manson, and history,

The Innocence of the Brady Bunch, walk on the moon,
 Led Zeppelin and a tune,

1969 was the year when love and innocence were mixed
 With my day.

100 YEARS FROM TODAY

                100 YEARS FROM TODAY

Yesterday, what we see as hundreds of years ago
 Is gone,

History it is to us, read about in books of long
 Lost times.

The days are always moving along, we do take for
 Granted the morning,

The setting sun is a most spectacular sight, heading
 into the night.

Here where we stand may still be standing, another
 Will be standing,

100 years from today the world that we know will
 Have much changed.

Just as we wonder what life was like back in a time of
 cowboys and pioneers,

tomorrow's people will also wonder and read about our
 Time and place.

100 years from today we will be a part of history,
 others will be amazed,

Just as we are amazed and dream of those times when
The world appeared to be a dream.

7 MINUTES

                     7 MINUTES

We all have 7 minutes before something we must do,

The same time before work is done and time to go home.

7 minutes waiting or 7 minutes up, what be the
 Circumstances,

7 minutes in the shower, 7 minutes on the phone,

7 minutes before dinner, another 7 minutes all alone.

Time is of the essence, time never stands very still,

7 minutes late just may save your life, right on time,
 Goodbye.

In only 7 minutes, from good to bad, your world has
 Changed,

Snooze for an extra 7 minutes, it may do you a world
 Of good.

7 minutes a long time to suffer, 7 minutes to love and
 Dream.

WIND IN THE FOREST

                  WIND IN THE FOREST

Wandering, walking, leaving behind this world
 For a while,

Letting my footsteps' take me beyond what I know,
 Letting go.

Deep, deep Into a land of which perhaps there's no
 Return,

Chances taken by a man with many fears, today I live.

Trees so high that darkness fills the sky, can't
 See the light,

Where the moon rests, not visible to these searching
 Eyes.

Sounds' of the forest are the only company to me,

Speaking words to the trees, does anything listen?

I can feel and hear the wind In the forest,

It speaks In sound, It Is with me, It finds me.

THE SKY WENT BLACK

                   " THE SKY WENT BLACK"

In an Instant It was gone, as I looked up the sun
 Was no longer,

Nothing was shining, no light In the sky, what would
 Guide me.

There's a darkness that surrounds' my world, where went
 The brightness,

Change my thinking, get off this unnecessary roller
 Coaster ride I'm on.

Making one material thing or particular person more
 Valuable,

Or Important than my own existence In life.

The sky went black, could this be because my eyes,

I've closed To my surroundings' over a loss or what
 I perceive as failure.

Has blinded me to the beauty there Is.

Love Is a great and wonderful experience when It
 Comes to see you,

If blessed are you then perhaps It stays', maybe also
 Goodbye.

Don't be fooled fore there are many different forms'
 Of love,

Looking deep within ourselves Is where this begins',
 Later outside.

Yes! the sky went black, again my eyes will open to
 See the light,

Never will I give up my fight for the love In my life.

DRIVE, JUST DRIVE!

                   DRIVE, JUST DRIVE

Jump into my car, the motor is running,

The morning sun is shining on this beautiful, black,
 Machine.

I've put the top down, we're gonna drive, just drive!

Feel the wind blowing through your hair, music in our
 Ears.

Let's head for the coast, we'll drive along the ocean
 Shore,

Miles and miles of open road, watch as the waves touch
 the sandy beach.

Let's drive far, we have all the time we desire,

Through the hills' of green grass, we'll drive the
 Country roads.

For miles there's only you and me, drive, just drive!

Nothing but beauty is seen as we head for anywhere,

High into the mountains is where our day takes us.

Almost to the sky, we can see everything from where
 We drive,

We drive into the night, we drive, just drive!

DAILY PLEASURES

                DAILY PLEASURES

Wake to the morning, a cup of tea or coffee,

Feeling the sunshine on a chilly, Fall morning.

Something to eat as again hunger visits me,

A shower, a hug from maybe someone you love.

Feeling good as health is a precious gift to enjoy,

A stroll down the street just my headphones and me.

A breath of life from morning through the dark of
 Night,

Taken for granted at times, daily pleasures are so
 Fine.
